New Delhi: After winning a billion hearts, Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is now a topic of discussion in CBSE schools, and the central board will hold a session with the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) to answer That “Neeraj why” Chopra threw the spear at a 36 degree angle.

This is part of a series of lectures and workshops that CBSE and IITs have planned for students and principals. The series will have “many practical activities, projects, models that help in conceptual understanding of difficult subjects. The first episode of the series will be rolled out with the title – Neeraj Chopra and Newton’s laws of motion.

At the Tokyo Olympics last month, Chopra won gold in the men’s javelin throw with a throw of 87.58m in his second attempt. Son of a farmer from Khandara village near Panipat in Haryana, 23-year-old Chopra has been a darling of people, executives and brands ever since his historic sporting achievement.

The ‘Eklavya’ series will be an interactive online educational program with “hands on activities… suggestive questions, assignments that promote out-of-box creative thinking (like why Neeraj Chopra threw the spear at 36 degrees), do it yourself Do a video project using local material that relates the curriculum to life”.

The content of the series will be of varying levels and will cover subjects from the Science and Mathematics syllabus of classes VI-XII. “Therefore, students of these grades should take advantage of this opportunity and register and participate for conceptual clarity and joyful learning,” CBSE said on Saturday.

The board said school principals have been urged to take advantage of the opportunity to complete the requisite number of teacher professional development hours by asking teachers to enroll for this course.

For teachers, successful completion of the course along with submission of homework will be considered equivalent to a 30-hour training and capacity building programme.
