Why does hot milk make you sleepy? Researchers tell

It is a common practice for many of us to drink warm milk before sleeping. If you remember, since childhood, our parents insist on drinking ‘turmeric milk’ or ‘almond milk’ after dinner. It is believed that warm milk helps you to sleep soundly and soundly. Ever wondered why? Scientists suggest that a mixture of milk peptides, called casein tryptic hydrolyzate (CTH), is known to relieve stress, and promote sound sleep. He is not everything. A report in the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry has identified some specific peptides in CTH that “may someday be used in new, natural sleep remedies”.

According to a report in ANI, scientists have also discovered “several natural peptides, or small fragments of proteins, which have anti-anxiety and sleep-enhancing effects”. Researchers at Zheng L, Mouming Zhao and colleagues, who are working on this, further realize that CTH may contain other (perhaps more potent) sleep-enhancing peptides.

Research was done on mouse where it was observed that CTH had better sleep enhancing properties. When the strongest peptides were tested in rats, the best increased rats’ numbers by about 25 percent. In addition, sleep duration increased by more than 400 percent compared to a control group.

However, the researchers suggest that in addition to this promising peptide, other ones should be explored in CTH that may enhance sleep through other pathways.

Keeping this in mind, we suggest adding a glass of warm milk after dinner to relax your mind and body and get a deep sleep. But always remember, consult a doctor before adopting any changes in your diet.
