Why should you get vaccinated? ‘Family Guy’ explains in viral PSA video

A global vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is underway, with governments, scientific experts, epidemiologists and voluntary organizations trying to immunize as many people as possible. However, vaccine-hesitation is still being seen in many people. So, the creators of the hit animated series family Guy Has worked closely with the Advertising Council to prepare a public service announcement and raise awareness of the vaccination campaign. The three-minute video shows series protagonist Peter Griffin debating whether to get vaccinated at the doctor’s office.

“God, I hate getting shot. Why did I still have to get this stupid vaccine?” Peter says, as he sits on the exam table. Anthropomorphic White Labrador Brian Griffin tells him, “Peter, it’s COVID. You must know how to say it. It’s been over a year.”

The Griffins then visit Dr. Elmer Hartmann, the family doctor, and ask Peter if he has any questions about the vaccine. Peter asks her how does the vaccine work?

Peter’s son Stevie Griffin interrupts the discussion and explains.

“Vaccines have been around for hundreds of years. He helped eradicate smallpox from the face of the earth. And they are on track to do the same with polio. Those were once devastating diseases, you understand. And now, thanks to vaccines, you don’t have to worry about them,” Stevie says.

She and Brian then teleport themselves into Peter’s bloodstream and swim inside plaque-filled arteries to show how vaccines train the body to respond to infection.

NS producer of family Guy said in a statement The campaign is designed to “educate, entertain and encourage” people to feel confident to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The video has got more than one lakh views so far. Many people praised the team for making this video.

Another said that he “cannot express” his love for the video.

“Much appreciated by this family who lost their loved ones to Covid. Hopefully, Stevie leading the charge gets through to some people,” said a user.
