Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has accused supporters of a BJP and Congress leader of maligning his image, saying he will quit politics if it is proved that he has made a statement on the establishment of a Muslim university in the state. . Attributing the statement to Congress’ campaign chief Rawat for the Uttarakhand assembly elections, the BJP had made it a major issue ahead of the polls.

Apart from BJP supporters, some people associated with one of our leaders are also targeting me. They think this is their chance to throw me on the ground and kill me.”
The senior Congress leader said he had recently offered a cash reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone who brought 10 copies of the newspaper. “However, now that supporters of a Congress leader are also a part of this infamous campaign against me, I have increased the amount to Rs 1 lakh. The day it is proved that the statement of establishment of Muslim University was given by me, I will retire from politics by sitting under the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
He said that he wants to expose the people responsible for spreading this lie about himself through social media. “I have to refute the false allegations leveled against me and expose the people behind this conspiracy,” Rawat said.
