Vikram beats Baahubali 2 in Tamil Nadu

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram stars Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, The film hit the theaters on June 3 in multiple languages ​​and is doing great at the box office. Recently, Vikram broke the five-year-long record of Baahubali 2 in Tamil Nadu. It took five years for a Tamil film to achieve this position in the motherland.

Trade analyst Sridhar Pillai said that Baahubali 2 earned Rs 152 crore. Now, Vikram has earned Rs 155 crore (with a share of Rs 80 crore) in 17 days to beat Baahubali 2.

A theater owner on the condition of anonymity said, “It is too early to say. We haven’t seen any material related to the jailer yet. That said, Rajinikanth has a tremendous box office hold and even today, he can draw. Lakhs of people flock to the theaters without huge publicity. Jailer may break box-office records, but it remains to be seen whether it will match Vikram, who has taken the box office by storm.”

Vikram’s theatrical performance is not over yet

When IndiaToday.in contacted trade analyst Ramesh Bala on whether Rajinikanth would oust Thalapathy Vijay or Ajith Vikram from power, he said we ‘need to wait and see’.

“Vikram’s theatrical run is not over yet. As per my sources, the film earned around Rs 160 crore and this trend is likely to continue for the next two weeks. If it continues, Vikram will end up with Rs 175 crore. Maybe, that sets the bar really high. Then, it will be difficult to cross the mark. We will have to wait and see how Vikram ends his dramatic run,” explained Ramesh Bala.

Are multi-stars the trick?

Vikram was a multi-starrer film starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles. Another A-lister, Suriya played an explosive five-minute cameo as Rolex. Also, the film had an in-form director like Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Ramesh Bala said, “After Baahubali 2, many films of Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay have done well at the box office in Tamil Nadu. However, out of the record of Rs 152 crores set by Baahubali, they are always Rs 5 or Rs 10 crores. In retrospect, these are single hero films. So, in my opinion, a multi-starrer film can do well at the box office. For example, if Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith and Vijay are together All his fans will celebrate the film if they join hands for the film. Otherwise, the heroes must team up with veteran or in-form directors like Shankar, SS Rajamouli, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Atlee to overthrow Vikram. Shankar and Kamal Haasan With a film like Indian 2, it has the potential to beat Vikram.”

Rajinikanth and Nelson preparing for Dilipkumar’s return

Rajinikanth’s last few films including Annaatthe and Darbar did not do exceptionally well at the box office. Though he has been a money spinner, he was not able to break the box office records. Similarly, Nelson Dilipkumar’s last film with Thalapathy Vijay, Beast, did not receive favorable reviews. Hence, Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar are in dire need of a hit at this point in their careers.

Only time will tell if the jailer can be the much-needed respite for both Rajinikanth and Nelson. As far as Vikram’s record is concerned, as Ramesh Bala put it, ‘it will be difficult to cross the mark’.
