‘Will stand together’: Rahul Gandhi after meeting with JDU, RJD for 2024 polls

After a meeting with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Janata Dal (United) in the national capital, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said ‘all (opposition) parties will unite and fight the upcoming elections unitedly’.

Former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi said, “Historical step taken to unite opposition parties; It is a process, the opposition’s vision for the country will develop. In this ideological battle, we will take all the parties together, we will fight unitedly against the attack on the institutions.

“Today we had a historic meeting here and discussed many issues. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We all have decided to unite all (opposition) parties and fight the coming elections unitedly.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also said after meeting with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, “We will try to unite as many parties as possible and work together in future.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with his deputy Tejashwi Yadav met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital on Wednesday.

The meeting between the leaders assumes significance amid efforts by leaders of several opposition parties to form a united opposition alliance to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Center in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting took place recently after a dinner party hosted by Congress chief Kharge at his residence in Delhi. The leaders also had lunch at Kharge’s residence, where JDU president Lalan Singh, Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Congress leader Salman Khurshid and RJD leader Manoj Jha were also present.

According to ANI, JDU chief Lalan Singh urged the Congress to lead the efforts to unite the opposition parties.

Kharge had recently spoken to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray regarding opposition unity.

JDU, RJD and Congress are in coalition government in Bihar and all three parties are in talks to bring other opposition parties on a common platform in their fight against BJP.
