Britain’s Cameron Norie has qualified for the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2022 after beating David Goffin of Belgium 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 on Court 1 on Tuesday, June 5.

Nori started off well and lost the first set as Goffin put him under a lot of pressure. In the current grass-court championship, ninth seed Nori came back to win the second set and lost again in the third.

From there, the British player needed to win both the remaining sets and therefore did not have much room for error. However, the 26-year-old Johannesburg-born tennis star mustered his courage to appear before Trump.

Norrie broke his opponent’s serve five out of eight times and pulled out five sets. He also made four double faults, but it did not hurt him much.

Norie became only the fourth British man to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals in the Open era. Andy Murray, Tim Heineman and Roger Taylor are the other three who have made it to the last four.

Nori will next face No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic, who came down two sets to beat Italy’s Jannik Sinner. Djokovic looked apathetic in his match after the first two sets, but he put on a strong performance and showed a lot of character to come trump.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Australia’s Nick Kyrgios will play their respective quarter-final matches on Wednesday, July 6.

Nadal will face Taylor Fritz of America while Kyrgios will face Cristian Garin of Chile.
