Former world No. 1 Simona Halep qualified for the third round of Wimbledon 2022 by defeating Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens 7-6, 6-4 on Court 2 on Thursday, June 30.

Halep has had her fair share of recent troubles after suffering a panic attack during a match at the French Open 2022. Later, in a post on Instagram, the veteran said that he has gone through a lot and it was not easy for him. Any stretch of the imagination.

However, Halep also vowed to make a comeback, and so far, she has been clinical in the ongoing grass-court tournament in SW19. Halep made four double faults in his match against Flipkens, but made up for that with two aces.

Halep managed to win six out of 13 break points and never let her opponent get in the way. Back in 2019, Halep won Wimbledon by defeating legendary Serena Williams in the final and has picked up where she left off three years ago.

Sweetek qualified for the third round

In another match, Polish World No. 1 Inga Swietek defeated Leslie Pattinama Kerkhove of the Netherlands in a thrilling three-setter to qualify for the third round of Wimbledon 2022.

Sweetek won the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 and did not perform at his best. The 20-year-old is one of the favorites to win the championship, having already won the French Open earlier this month.

After the end of the match, Sweetek commended his opponent for making proper use of the playing conditions. After winning quite a few titles this year, the prodigious lady would like to win another title.
