Winter Vacation 2023: Know The States That Have Announced Holidays – News18

Holidays are the time for students to enjoy their time at home.

The Delhi government has stepped in with the decision to reduce the winter vacations from 15 days to 6 days.

Winter is finally here, and the holiday season is knocking at our doors! Cherished most by the students, this starts from late December and goes on till early January. With December nearing its end, many states have announced winter vacation dates for schools. Over the next few days, other states will also declare the holidays for the students to enjoy the time at their homes, relax, and enjoy the upcoming festivals. Let’s take a look at the states where winter holidays have been announced:

Delhi NCR

As per the recent developments, the Delhi government has stepped in with the decision to reduce the winter vacations from 15 days to 6 days, given the off-time that was observed in November due to poor air quality. Delhi Education Department released a circular that reads, “In view of the above, the remaining portion of the Winter Vacation for Academic Session 2023-2024 is scheduled to be observed from 01.01.2024 (Monday) to 06.01.2024 (Saturday).” Schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram are also planning for forthcoming closures of the schools.

Uttar Pradesh

While Uttar Pradesh is yet to announce the Winter vacation, it is expected that the state will grant a 15-day break, spanning from around December 31 to January 14, following the last year’s schedule.

Rajasthan

The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has declared the dates for winter vacation. The schools in the state will remain closed starting from December 25. The Rajasthan Board, on Monday, dropped a post on X to announce the same and wrote, “Winter vacation will start from December 25.” RBSE has also announced dates for class 10 and class 12 board exams. The exams for both RBSE class 10 and 12, are scheduled to commence from February 15, 2024; and will go on till April 20, 2024.

Jammu

In addition to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan, the directorate of Jammu Education Board also announced the winter vacation schedule in the state division. The vacations will be observed from December 11, 2023, to February 29, 2024, for all Government and private schools across the state. As per the announcement, the schools will be shut for students up to the 8th standard from December 11, 2023, to February 29, 2024, whereas students from the 9th to 12th standard will have their vacations from December 18 to February 29.
