With 600-slide presentation, Prashant Kishor will meet Congress leaders tomorrow amid talks of joining

Prashant Kishor on Thursday intensified speculation of joining the Congress and held another meeting with the party’s top leaders on Friday and this time, the election strategists seem to be taking their role seriously in preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Huh.

Sources close to Kishor were quoted by news agency ANI as saying that the strategist has prepared a presentation of 600 slides for screening for leadership but no one has seen the entire presentation yet.

Kishor met party chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday evening for a planning session on the upcoming assembly polls and Lok Sabha polls. This was the second meeting in the last three days as the poll strategist met Gandhi on Saturday and made a detailed presentation to the top leadership for the 2024 general elections, expressing his desire to join the party.

Congress is considering Prashant Kishor’s proposal for revival of the oldest party and a game plan for the upcoming elections.

The party has been given the rest of this month to respond to Kishor’s proposal, which includes plans for the party to contest 370 seats in the next general election and a strategic partnership in some states.

Kishor suggested that the party fight alone in the assembly elections in some states where it is strong and has been either on top or second in the previous elections.

He also asked the leadership to start afresh in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha. Kishor, who has held several rounds of meetings with the top Congress leadership, is understood to have also given suggestions on the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat, including the induction of Patidar leader Naresh Patel.

AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said a decision on Kishor’s suggestion to join the party would be taken in a week. There was a lot of speculation in the past about the possibility of Kishor joining the Congress ahead of the recently held assembly elections.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior party leaders were present at the four-hour meeting at the Congress President’s 10, Janpath residence to discuss the party’s strategy for the upcoming assembly elections and the next Lok Sabha elections.

According to sources, Kishor told the select gathering that he was ready to join the Congress “without any expectations” and wanted nothing but to implement his plan to help strengthen the party at the grassroots level. should be done.

The poll strategist had earlier joined the JD(U) but was expelled in January 2020 over his stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act. He was included in their assembly election campaigns by Trinamool Congress, DMK and Aam Aadmi Party.

The Congress is battling repeated electoral defeats in the last two general elections and several state assembly elections and is desperate to turn a corner. The party’s electoral graph has not only been facing a series of abandonment since the fall, but has also been affected by the ongoing internal struggle between the old guard and the new generation for leadership roles.

The G-23, a group of some party leaders who have been critical of the leadership and demanding an organizational change, did not react to the proposal to include Kishor. However, a section of the party critical of the decision-making process is skeptical of the move, with some even saying that the leadership is now “outsourcing” its work.
