Gayle has been one of the biggest batting superstars of his generation and arguably, the greatest T20 cricketer of all time thanks to his stellar record across the format.

With 14,364 runs in 455 T20Is, Jamaica is the highest run-scorer in the history of the format. He may be in his forties right now and may be past his prime, but Gayle remains a big draw for various T20 tournaments across the globe.

He is currently trading for Fortune Barishal in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, having scored 36 and seven runs in two innings so far. Before BPL 2022 he was a part of Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Last year, he represented the West Indies in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, which will all the way be the last time he plays for them at the international level, even though the 42-year-old has yet to announce an official retirement.

He has also been quite popular with Indian cricket fans, having been a part of the IPL and representing the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and most recently Punjab Kings.

When he continues with his playing career, it is highly likely that he will not be a part of IPL 2022 as his name was not there in the preliminary list of players to be named for the upcoming mega auction.
