Woman coach who accused Haryana minister of sexual harassment claims ‘life threat’

Chandigarh: A junior women’s coach, who had filed a complaint against Haryana minister Sandeep Singh alleging sexual harassment, on Wednesday filed another FIR alleging attempt on her life.

In her FIR lodged with the Panchkula police, the woman has also alleged that she has been receiving threats ever since she filed a complaint against the minister, who is also a former captain of the Indian hockey team. The complaint, made through email, states that when the woman stopped to fill fuel in her scooty in Sector-5, Panchkula on Tuesday, a black SUV, which was being driven by a man, whom she said, Speeding “with intent to kill”. “His vehicle” to harm/kill me”.

He said some passers-by tried to stop the vehicle but failed. Claiming that she called the police emergency number (112) but the help did not reach her, she said, “This is a violation of my security and also a threat to my life… This was not the first time, earlier also Incidents happened.”

He requested that the alleged culprit be identified and action be taken against him.

Speaking to ThePrint on Wednesday, Ajit Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Panchkula’s Sector-5 police station, said they initially received the complaint on his WhatsApp.

“We requested him to send his complaint by email, following which we immediately registered his FIR and started the investigation,” he added.

“We will go through the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the site to identify the vehicle,” he added.

The woman in her complaint also referred to the FIR lodged earlier against Singh, “who is a very influential person, and I have been receiving various threats by unknown persons, and the Haryana Police has given me protection in this regard.” Cover is also provided. for the same”.

Sandeep Singh accused

She claimed that despite her silence, allegedly on the advice of seniors, Singh continued to message her on Instagram, harassing her mentally and trying to jeopardize her career.

The Chandigarh Police, which is probing the matter, has alleged discrepancies in the minister’s statement regarding the duration of the woman complainant’s visit to his residence on the said date. It has sought a lie detector test on him through an application in a Chandigarh court.

According to media reports, the court adjourned the hearing till April 29 after the minister’s lawyer sought more time to file his reply.
