Woman engaged in begging, rescued the child

Childline 1098 Mangaluru on Wednesday rescued a begging woman along with her child in Nanthoor circle.

A release issued here said that the public had complained to Child Line that minor children were harassing people by begging in the Nanthoor circle on Wednesday. When Child Line visited the spot, a woman from Tavarekere, Bangalore was begging with a one-year-old child.

On the instructions of the Child Welfare Committee, both the woman and the child were rehabilitated at the Women’s Rehabilitation Center. Child Line’s field coordinator Dixit Acharappadi, staff Ashalata Kumpala and Jayanti and volunteer Kavan Kabaka were involved in the rescue.

Child Line said that several migrant families with children were involved in begging around the Nanthoor circle and it was found that they did not have any documents to show that the children belonged to them. It has urged people not to encourage begging by children and to report the same to Childline 1098.
