Police said James Weams has been charged with abuse of “at least three children”.
A retired police office in the United States was shot by his wife, who accused him of molesting children at their daycare center, Washington Post said in a report. The report quoted officials as saying that a man named James Weams Jr. has been charged with sexual abuse. Police said the 57-year-old was shot by his wife Shantiri Weems (50) on Thursday night in their room at the luxury Mandarin Oriental Hotel in southwest Washington following a dispute over the issue.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Mr Weems on charges of 13 sex offenses related to the abuse of “at least three children” at the daycare center. This includes two counts of third-degree sexual assault and three counts of second-degree assault.
Meanwhile, the man remains in the hospital with two bullet wounds, which are not believed to be life-threatening. Police further said that he has been declared a fugitive in Maryland, due to which a guard has been placed outside his hospital room.
