Woman stabbed to death after rejecting marriage proposal: Bengaluru Police

A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by an irate lover on Tuesday evening after she refused to marry him over their caste difference, police said.

The victim has been identified as Leela Pavitra Neelmi, a resident of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. While the accused has been identified as Dinakar Banlam, a resident of Srikakulam.

According to the police, Leela lived in Bangalore and worked in Omega Healthcare. She was stabbed multiple times after Dinkar Banala allegedly rejected her marriage proposal, saying he was from a different caste and her family would not agree to their marriage.

“The girl’s family was not ready for the marriage as she belonged to a different caste. After she rejected his marriage proposal, the accused stabbed her more than 15 times in front of his office. The incident took place around 7 pm on Tuesday. ” DCP, Bhimashankar S. Guled.

Police said that according to preliminary investigation, Dinakar and Leela had fallen in love five years ago. However, the latter’s family was against their marriage due to caste difference.

“Dinkar and Leela had fallen in love five years ago. But Leela’s family was opposed to their marriage as Dinkar was from a different caste. Leela told Dinkar that her family would not agree to their marriage and that he should The verdict has to be followed. This enraged Dinakar stabbed Leela several times outside her office,” the DCP said.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused.

Further investigation is underway.
