The parents of the victim are also going to Nellore along with the police.
The SP said that the Nellore district superintendent of police has claimed that the girl retracted her earlier allegations of rape when the local police reached the factory for investigation. “Our police team will investigate and find out what happened,” the SP said.
“There are two versions of the story. The facts will be known when our team completes the investigation.”
About 200 migrant workers, mostly women, returned from Nellore to Dhalbhumgarh on Thursday. He complained to the Dhalbhumgarh police that a fellow employee was raped by the company’s site manager. When they protested and demanded action against the culprit, they were fired by the company management and asked to leave the city immediately.
Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren said that he has urged the district administration to pursue the matter expeditiously. “The priority should be to save the girl. Legal action will be taken later,” Soren said.
He also said that the district labor department has been asked to take action against the agents who falsely promised high wages to the villagers and took them to Nellore.
He said that many of the migrants are girls in the age group of 12-22.
