Women’s Asia Cup 2022: Pakistan women’s cricket team surprised by Thailand, watch Thai women’s ceremony here

The Pakistan women’s cricket team lost to Thailand Women’s Cricket by four wickets in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2022 in Sylhet, Bangladesh on Thursday (October 6). Chasing a modest 117 for victory, the Thai women sealed a tense victory with a ball to spare, led by a brilliant half-century from opener Nathakan Chantham.

Chantham scored 61 off just 51 balls to lay the foundation for Thailand’s most famous cricket victory. His innings hit two sixes and five fours. The next highest scorer was Thailand captain Narumoi Chaiwai, who scored 17 runs.

Thailand needed 10 runs to win the final and had four wickets in hand, but Rosen Kanoh eased the pressure with a crucial boundary off Diana Baig of Pakistan and took the team home with a ball to spare.

Thailand women’s cricket team celebrated their shocking victory over Pakistan women’s cricket team here.

“We are very excited. Pakistan is a strong side. We want to beat every team but at the moment we just enjoy our fielding and batting. I want my team to have fun and the victory comes automatically. Last two matches I didn’t bowl the right length and line. Today he did it really well,” Thailand captain Chaywai said after the win.

Earlier, Pakistan women’s team were restricted to 116/5 despite opener Sidra Amin’s half-century. Apart from Sidra, none of the Pakistani batsmen could cross the 20-run mark. Claiming 2/20, Sonarin Tippoch was one of the bowlers for Thailand.

“Very disappointed with the way we batted. The batsmen did not show any intention. Of course the batting disappointed. The set batsmen were there and they could not score well. 130 plus would be a good total. He didn’t show intent, it was disappointing for me as a captain,” said Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof.

Pakistan will next face arch-rivals Team India in their next match on Friday. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team is currently at the top of the points table with three wins from three matches.
