How did modeling happen to you?

GP: When I was young, I never thought about modeling initially. I always thought that I do not have what is required to be a model and I am happy with my job as a doctor. And I never knew I’d be a model at the age of 57. It so happened that an Italian photographer came to my clinic to treat him, when he asked me if I could model for him. A few months later, he texted me and asked for my pictures. Since I never got myself clicked as a model, I sent her my regular pictures which my kids picked and shared. And that’s when I got my first break.

Who did you model for in the first place?

GP: About 10 years ago, I had a chance to appear in a campaign by designer Tarun Tahiliani. Then Jeypore brand approached me to model for their Kani shawls, as those shawls were mostly worn by women in my age group.

How do you balance your profession and modeling?

GP: Despite giving modeling time, I have made sure that I never miss out on counseling my patients. I try to book myself for modeling assignments during most weekends, because then I’m relatively free. As much as I love modeling, I love serving my people and also run a charitable clinic at home.

What do your kids say when they see your pictures on billboards and glossy?

GP: Whenever they see me on a billboard or something glossy, they get very excited. They keep sending me pictures. It also pleases me and makes me feel content.

What message would you like to give to the women around you?

GP: I want to tell them that they should never stop dreaming no matter how big or small they are. There is no age limit for anything in the world and no one should let their age decide their passion and hobbies.
