‘Won’t Let Hindustan Be Divided Into Bylanes’: Giriraj Singh Calls Khargone Violence An ‘Experiment’

Union minister Giriraj Singh termed the recent communal violence in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone as an “experiment” and said he would not allow the country to be divided into suburbs and localities.

Speaking to the media in Khandwa district on Thursday evening, Singh said the Ram Navami incident was no coincidence. He said, ‘The country was partitioned in the year 1947 and those who had to go, they left. We cannot go to Pakistan but we will not ask people like Owaisi which bylane is for whom. They are deciding which way the Ram Navami procession will be taken out.

The minister said: “We will not allow India to be divided into suburbs and localities. If we don’t take out Ram Navami procession in the streets of India, should we do the same in Pakistan?”

Curfew was imposed in Khargone on Sunday evening following incidents of arson and stone pelting during Ram Navami celebrations. The police have so far arrested 121 people in connection with the violence.

Addressing BJP workers, Singh said violence was being carried out in places like Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, Karauli in Rajasthan and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh as part of a well-planned conspiracy. “The tukde-tukde gang is leading the packs. Attack on the superintendent of police, attack with swords etc. does not seem to be a coincidence,” the minister said.

He also called for population control measures, saying that India has reached an uncountable population while the area and resources are limited. Talking about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Singh said that the provision says that if Hindus or Sikhs are expelled from certain countries, they should be given asylum in India. “Where else will they go?” He asked.

However, the minister lost his cool when he was asked about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remark that India would be ‘Akhand Bharat’ after 15 years.

“We are discussing Khargone violence, so why question Bhagwat ji? Why do you guys love him so much?” Singh said he walked out of the briefing.
