The World Bank on Thursday announced $1.78 billion in aid to Turkey to help with relief and recovery efforts after a massive earthquake struck the country and neighboring Syria, killing more than 20,000 people.
“We are providing immediate assistance and rapidly assessing the immediate and large-scale needs on the ground,” World Bank President David Malpass said in a statement.
