World Information Society and Telecommunication Day 2022: In a world where the metaverse is actually a thing, no belief is needed that the digital paradigm is now dominating enough to be considered a reality. If you agree, you will also agree that just as we need security in the real world, our digital presence also needs security.

Connected to the Internet through various portals like phones, computers and other technological devices, it is imperative for us to pay special attention to security. By keeping a few things in mind, we can keep our digital identity, our data safe from harmful malware and viruses. This year on World Information Society and Telecommunications Day, on May 17th, here are five ways you can keep your smartphone safe from hackers and malware.

  1. keep your device updated
Tech companies frequently introduce updates to their devices to keep their guard relevant in this fast-paced world. Bug fixes, security updates, and software updates all affect how secure your data is on your device.
  2. A Phish. don’t hold
Spam and phishing emails are a perfect gateway for malware viruses to enter a device’s system and cause havoc. It is important not to unnecessarily click on emails that you suspect to be malicious.
  3. Built-in device protection/antivirus software
Having become an essential item in the tech sector, companies now offer their devices with built-in security. If this is not the case with your device, install antivirus software from a trusted source and improve your device’s security.
  4. be strict with apps
App permissions are sometimes ignored. It is very important to manage these permissions and see how deep the apps are in your pool of data.
  5. avoid public connections
Whether it is Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi, you should avoid connecting to a public host or network. Prefer to use your private data connection. Also, consider turning off your Bluetooth in a public area.
