World no. Para shuttler Manasi Joshi to receive Arjuna Award on November 30

India’s top para badminton player and current world No. 1 Manasi Joshi will be conferred with the Arjuna Award 2022 from the President. India On November 30, 2022 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Joshi has now become the second female para-badminton player to receive this prestigious award.

Along with Joshi, 24 other sports personalities from various disciplines will be honored at the ceremony for their outstanding performance in sports and games.

Joshi recently returned from Tokyo after participating in Hulic Daihatsu BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2022 where she won two bronze medals in women’s singles SL3 and mixed doubles, both of which will be inspired in Paris 2024.

After being included in the list of Arjuna Awardees, Mansi said, “It is an absolute honor to receive the coveted Arjuna Award this year. My sports journey has been nothing but a roller-coaster ride, and it has been my family’s I am grateful to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Government of India. It feels great to be recognized for all the hard work and efforts that have been put in on and off the court. It’s a moment of inspiration and encouragement to reach out.”

More than a decade ago, Joshi met with an accident on the way to work, due to which his leg was amputated. After months of rehabilitation, he took the aid of a prosthetic leg and started walking five months after that unfortunate incident. He then took to badminton to regain his fitness and mental confidence.

But, life had somewhat different plans for him as badminton took off in his career. In 2014 she won silver in a national level tournament and further made her debut in an international tournament in Spain. Then she made her stellar appearance at the Para-Badminton World Championships in 2015 and won a silver. In 2017 she won a bronze medal.

At the 2018 Asian Para Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, she again won a bronze medal, but her journey took a big flight after she won the gold medal at the Para World Badminton Championships 2019. World no. 1st place in his sport.
