‘World’s most prolific’ sperm donor uses Facebook to help 129 babies for free

The “world’s most prolific sperm donor” has helped father 129 children so far, and at 66 years old, he currently has nine more children. Clive Jones, a retired teacher, could not donate through a sperm donor and took to Facebook to do so, where he found advertisements from several people who needed his services, Ladd Bible reports. Jones claimed to have met 20 of the 129 children he helped father. Claiming that he is the world’s most prolific sperm donor with 138 children, nine who are on the way, Jones said he wants to continue for a few more years and help around 150 children in total. He believes that people would understand his discovery better if they could only see the kind of messages he found and pictures of children with their mothers.

Jones donated his sperm for free, saying that charging is illegal but he also feels that charging money when he has “more than” doesn’t seem fair. The only thing he would sometimes ask for is some petrol. The process of donating sperm sometimes becomes elaborate. First, Jones meets with his clients, the would-be parents, and puts the date on his planner. They give him a call when ovulation is hours away, when he drives closer to where he lives and does the deed inside his van using a cup, a syringe and a bag.

“I can tell how nervous they are. No other donor would normally do this from their van, they go to the front door and ask to use the toilet,” Ladd Bible quoted Jones said. Jones, who has been serving for nine years, is himself a father of three. It all started with him putting ads on a site, but now, he gets scores of customers only through referrals. He has been married since 1978, but he does not currently live with his wife, who claims that he is not at all happy with his activity.

The Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority has issued a medical warning about Jones’ work, stating that all patients and donors should be treated in a UK-licensed clinic. Their spokesperson said that although it is not within their jurisdiction to prevent anyone from making their own arrangements regarding donating or receiving sperm, they would like to help people make informed decisions about it.
