WPL 2023: From Super Over, DRS, impact players to playoff format – here’s every rule you need to know

The first edition of the Women’s Premier League is all set to begin on March 4, with Mumbai Indians taking on Gujarat Giants. Before we dive deep into all the action, here is everything you need to know about the rules of the tournament.

  1. Super Over: In case of a tie, the match will be decided by a super over. In case of a Super Over tie, another Super Over will be played.
  2. Timeout: A total of 4 strategic breaks will be taken in the entire 40 overs. Each break will be of 150 seconds. The bowling team will be offered a choice between overs six and nine, while the batting team will have to choose between the 13th and 16th overs.
  3. DRS: Each team will get two unsuccessful appeals against the umpires’ decision.
  4. concussion substitute: In the event of injury to a player, one of the first 15 players named at the start of the match may be brought in as a substitute.
  5. Impact Player: is not valid
  6. Playoffs: The table toppers will directly qualify for the final and the other two teams will compete in the virtual semi-finals to face the table toppers. The DY Patil Stadium will host the Eliminator on March 24 and the final will be played at the Brabourne Stadium on March 26.
