Wriddhiman Saha out of neck stiffness, Srikar Bharat took wickets

Veteran India wicketkeeper and the team’s oldest player Wriddhiman Saha did not take the field due to a neck stiffness at the start of the third day of the first Test against New Zealand.

“Wriddhiman Saha has a stiff neck. The BCCI medical team is treating him and monitoring his progress. KS Bharat will keep wickets in his absence,” BCCI said in a media statement.

The 37-year-old Saha has faced either on-field injuries or fitness concerns over the years. Playing in place of rested Rishabh Pant, Saha scored only 1 run in India’s innings and has not been in the best of form for some time now.

In the absence of Saha, Shrikar Bharat took the field.
