Yamaha, Fulfily partners to lease electric scooters, three-wheelers in Tamil Nadu

Moto Business Service India, leasing company to Yamaha Motors, has partnered with Chennai-based all-electric sustainable energy powered EV vehicle company Fulphilly. As part of the partnership, Yamaha will supply 50 units of Omega Seki Rage+ electric three-wheeler and 200 units of Hero Electric Nyx electric scooter to Fulphilly for last mile delivery services.

MBSI says it currently aims to manage a fleet of over 2,000 electric vehicles in the state of Tamil Nadu, with Fulphilly and other partners.

Shoji Shirashi, Managing Director, MBSI said, “We are extremely excited to partner with Fulphilly to officially launch our operations in the EV space in Chennai. India is witnessing a rapid growth in sales of electric vehicles (EVs) as manufacturers and users rush to switch from gasoline-powered vehicles due to rising fuel costs. Additionally, there are major signs of momentum in this key potential market of 1.4 billion Indians. We will continue to onboard electric vehicles in many cities and create employment opportunities for the youth of India.”

MBSI will supply 250 EV to FullFily including 200 Hero Electric Nyx scooter and 50 Omega Seiki Rage+ electric three-wheeler.

MBSI, which focuses on providing vehicle leasing and support services, says this is their ninth investment this year, including ride hailing platform Rapido, two-wheeler rental companies Royal Brothers India and Rentello and several last mile Other notable partners include delivery companies. Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

MBSI says it will invest Rs 100 crore in its fleet of vehicles this year and plans to have a fleet of 10 lakh vehicles on the road by 2028. MBSI says it plans to expand its portfolio of vehicles, including two-, three- and. Four wheelers for use on lease by last mile delivery services and/or taxis. The company has said that it will consider procuring both electric and conventional internal combustion models.

Japanese major’s Indian two-wheeler manufacturing arm Yamaha Motor India has a range of two-wheelers but no electric two-wheelers as of now. The company has said that it is working on plans to develop electric two-wheelers, and the first product could be an electric scooter, which is expected to be introduced sometime after 2025.
