New Delhi: NIA Court on Thursday convicted Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik After being convicted in the terror funding case.
The court also asked him for an affidavit Malik regarding their financial assessment and asked to submit a report to the NIA regarding their financial assessment.
The next date of hearing on the sentence will be on May 25.
He was charged with criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country, other illegal activities and breach of peace in Kashmir.
On the last date of hearing he told the court that he was not contesting the charges leveled against him, including sections 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act). and sections 20 (being a member of a terrorist gang or organization) of the UAPA and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code.
Kashmiri separatist leaders including Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Masarat Alam, former MLA Rashid Engineer, businessman Zahoor Ahmed Shah WataliBitta Karate, Aftab Ahmed Shah, Avtar Ahmed Shah, Naeem Khan, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, alias Peer Saifullah and many others have also been implicated on charges of criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country and other illegal activities.
NIA special judge in the order of March 16 Praveen Singh had said: “The above analysis reveals that the statements of the witnesses and the documentary evidence have linked almost all the accused with each other and with a common objective of separation, similarity of the means used by them, terrorist/ His close ties with terrorist organizations under the guiding hand and funding of the Pakistani establishment.”
Notably, the court has acquitted three Kamran Yusuf, Javed Ahmed Bhatt and Syed Asiya Firdous Andrabi.
