Yellow alert issued for 3 days in Telangana, hailstorm, heavy rain

Hyderabad (Telangana):

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a ‘yellow alert’ for three days as hailstorm and heavy rain are likely at isolated places in Telangana.

According to Dharam Raju, Scientist, Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, the trough from South Interior Karnataka to South Chhattisgarh now runs from North Interior Karnataka to North Interior Odisha at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

He said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places in Telangana for two days.

IMD has predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places in some districts of Telangana.

“IMD has predicted hailstorm and heavy rain at isolated places in Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal Rural, Warangal Urban, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nagarkurnool districts of Telangana for three days. A yellow alert has been issued,” Mr Raju said.

He further said that the local forecast for Hyderabad city and neighborhood would be generally cloudy. The city of Hyderabad was covered with gray clouds in the early hours of Thursday and the city of Hyderabad received unseasonal rains.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers very likely over some parts of the city for the next 24 hours. The surface winds are very likely to be easterly/south-easterly winds with wind speed around 6 to 10 kmph The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 27°C and 20°C respectively for the next 24 hours.
