Yogi’s ‘surgical strike’ on corruption, 5 officers including PWD chief suspended

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is adopting a strict attitude against corruption. In Lucknow, the Yogi government has suspended 5 officers. Among the officers who have been suspended, the head of the Public Works Department and Chief Engineer Manoj Gupta are also named. This action has been taken regarding the irregularity of transfers in the department. This action has been taken after the action taken on 18 July on Public Works Minister Jitin Prasad’s OSD Anil Kumar Pandey.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that roads are meant for movement of people and no religious activity should be allowed to hinder the movement of traffic. Adityanath asked officials to ensure that there was no display of firearms in religious visits and processions, and issued instructions to set up health checkpoints on the Kanwar Yatra routes. An official spokesperson said that he was addressing senior state officials through video conferencing.

The Chief Minister said, “Roads are for movement of people. No religious program should be allowed to obstruct traffic. Clear instructions have been issued in this regard and it should be strictly followed.”

Adityanath said that dialogue is of great importance in a democracy and by using it the state government was successful in removing unnecessary loudspeakers. He said that for the night stay of Kanwariyas, keeping in mind the security and public convenience, foot patrolling should be done. Adityanath said that the police helpline 112 remained active.
