The purported remarks were made by Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar during a visit to Beed district in central Maharashtra in October to assess the damage caused to crops by excessive rains.

A video has surfaced in which Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar can be heard purportedly asking Beed District Collector Radhabinod Sharma if he drinks alcohol.

Sattar made the purported remarks during a visit to Beed district of central Maharashtra in October to assess the damage caused to crops by excessive rains. He was in Gevrai taluka of the district on October 21 to inspect crop damage.

Videos that surfaced on Thursday showed the minister sitting in a hall along with Collector Sharma, district officials and a few others. When tea is served to Sattar and others in the hall, Sharma refuses to drink the tea.

At this point, Sattar is reportedly heard asking the collector, “Do you drink alcohol?” As the video went viral on social media, the minister faced criticism for his remarks.

Maharashtra Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant took a jibe at Sattar and tweeted, “Was it a rain damage tour or a liquor viewing tour?”.
