Young South Africa Stars Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs Register For Wildcard Draft For The Hundred 2022

After making a big impression during IPL For their respective teams in 2022, upcoming star Dewald Brevis and his South African compatriot Tristan Stubbs are likely to be among the top picks in the ‘wildcard’ draft of the Hundred 2022 edition to be played later this year.

The two young South African stars will be top choices among 257 male players who have registered for the ‘wildcard’ draft for overseas players for 2022 to be held on Thursday (June 9). The wildcard draft allows the eight participating teams to add a fourth overseas player to the team selected in April this year.

‘Wildcard’ overseas players will be paid £50,000 each. Other overseas players registered for the wildcard draft include Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Australia openers David Warner and Mujeeb ur Rahman.

Brevis came into limelight by becoming the top scorer for South Africa in ICC Under-19 World The cup, with 500 runs, was picked by five-time champions Mumbai Indians. Although Mumbai had a bad season, Brevis was one of those youngsters who impressed everyone. Brevis scored 161 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 142.47.

Stubbs came in as a replacement player after England pacer Tymal Mills withdrew towards the end of Mumbai Indians’ campaign and could only play two matches. But they have done well in the domestic T20 league and hence will be in demand here.
