The Kadakkavoor police on Saturday arrested a 33-year-old man for stealing gold jewelery from a girl who was playing on the verandah of her house. The accused has been identified as Rezith, a resident of Valayankuzhi near Vettur under Kadakkavoor police station area.
According to the police, the daily wage accused, who was hired to do household chores, stole a gold bracelet weighing 5 grams worn by an 18-month-old child in the house.
He was arrested on the basis of a complaint by Ashwathi, the mother of the child, who lived near Appuppan Nad near Nilakkumukku in Sarkalara village. During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime and admitted that he had sold the jewelery shop in Attingal for Rs 21,000. Later the accused was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
