Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV sends defamation notice after alleging ‘mental harassment, discrimination’

New Delhi: Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Srinivas BV has sent a criminal defamation notice to former Assam IYC president Angkita Dutta.

The development, announced by the IYC, comes after Dutta alleged on Twitter that the Congress youth wing chief had “mentally harassed” and “discriminated” against her. In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Dutta accused Srinivas of discriminating against her on the basis of gender. She further said that despite her complaints, no inquiry was conducted against her.

“I am Priyanka Gandhi’s girl, can I fight?” Dutta asked, referring to a campaign launched by the Congress general secretary ahead of last year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

In another tweet, she wrote, ‘I had a lot of faith in Rahul Gandhi and I went to Jammu during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. [led by him] To inform him about Srinivas’s harassment and use of derogatory language towards me. It is now April and so far no investigation has been done against him.

The IYC in Delhi has responded by pointing out that Dutta was questioned in the Saradha chit fund scam and was in “frequent touch” with Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“Dr. Dutta was appointed as the Vice President of Assam PYC (State Youth Congress) in June 2018 when Mr. Kamrul Islam Chowdhary was the PYC President. Later, the resolution passed by IYC for 33% reservation for women in the organization As per, she has been nominated as the PYC Assam President in November 2021 and will continue in office till the membership of the IYC in Assam is announced to induct new leaders in the state organisation”, the IYC said in a statement.

However, Dutta continues to identify himself as the Assam IYC president on all his social media profiles.

The IYC statement further alleged that since the announcement of the IYC state elections last year, Dutta had stopped discharging his duties.

“Since her term had come to an end, and she was not discharging her duties efficiently after the announcement of State PYC elections, she started leveling baseless allegations against National Secretary Vardhan Yadav, IYC in-charge of Assam PYC, which never fructified and he has consistently denied the same. He himself has been restrained from participating and cooperating with the inquiry committee set up by the IYC leadership to probe the allegations leveled against him. Such acts are clearly contrary to the allegations, the statement said. Shows the falsity of.

ThePrint reached out to both Angkita Dutta and Srinivas Biwi for comments on WhatsApp and Twitter, but did not receive a response till the time of publication of this report.

Sometimes it is the people with the weakest case who make the most noise. and is found involved in propagating / disseminating defamatory material, he shall be held liable under the relevant laws and shall be held accountable for his acts.

He said: “Sorry for not being able to respond to the BJP and their sponsored puppets earlier due to the marathon election campaign in Karnataka where the BJP is going to lose badly. No deviation can save the BJP in the state of Karnataka.
