The Youth Congress’s march to the Thiruvananthapuram corporation headquarters in protest against the alleged misappropriation of revenue funds turned violent on Thursday.
Youth Congress organized a protest meeting near the corporation office demanding the arrest of all the officials responsible for the scam. Shortly after District Congress Committee president Palode Ravi inaugurated the demonstration, a group of Youth Congress workers stormed towards the office, alleging that they were instigated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, who There were agitations outside the campus as well.
While some Congress workers tried to break the compound wall to enter the office premises, the police used coercion to disperse them. Later, after the agitators resorted to lathi-charge, they had to resort to lathi-charge. The situation was brought under control after about an hour of effort.
