A 25-year-old youth died when his car went out of control and rammed into a culvert at Jagadgirigutta police limits in the early hours of Monday.
Police have identified the victim as Praveen Kumar, an employee of a private company residing in Surram. Another person in the car suffered injuries.
According to the police, the accident happened around 1.30 am when the two were on their way from Gajularamaram towards Kukatpally. The accident was so strong that the car overturned several times after hitting the culvert and the safety airbags were filled automatically. Despite this, the young man on the wheel died on the spot.
Police said the car was speeding, but the suspicion of drunken driving could not be confirmed. Is being investigated.
