YouTube for Android gets video transcription support: What it means for users – Times of India

youtube app Video transcription support is available. This feature is currently available for YouTube desktop users. according to a report by Android Police is now rolling it out for Android users as well.
The video transcription feature will enable users to watch the full transcription of any video on the app itself. The feature reportedly adds a new “Transcript” section below the video description. Tapping on the ‘Show Transcript’ button will open the full transcription of the current video along with the timestamp.
The report also shares screenshots of how the Transcript feature will work. This signifies that users will be able to navigate through video transcripts by scrolling through the transcript window. They can also jump directly to a specific timestamp with the new feature.
However, the YouTube app’s feature does not currently allow users to search through the transcript. It is currently available to YouTube mobile app users via a server-side update, and to a handful of YouTube users.
Meanwhile, popular third-party alternatives YouTube Vend has been discontinued. This decision comes after a legal threat from Google. Google A cease and desist letter was reportedly sent to the vand owners recently. As The Verge reports, the letter forced developers to stop distributing and developing the app. “We were asked to remove all references to ‘YouTube’, change the logo, and remove all links related to YouTube products,”
In a Discord message to The Verge, an administrator of the Wanded team says.
The announcement was made by YouTube Vanced through a post on microblogging site Twitter. The post states that it will remove the download link of the app from the website in the coming days.
