YouTube Shorts, the equivalent of TikTok and Instagram reels, is coming soon to your PC and tablet. Since its release, YouTube Shorts has limited itself to mobile devices given the large user base on smartphones. But now, it is eyeing all the platforms like PC and tablet, which can become your source of watching shorts.
YouTube is likely to make new changes in the coming week. Offering shorts on the biggest screens would be an interesting move, and people might actually prefer to watch it on a desktop or tablet rather than a smartphone.

And here comes the design challenge, Shorts worked primarily on smartphones, so the interface would have to be tweaked to make it compatible on 13-inch and 10-inch laptops and tablets respectively.
Shorts can have a dedicated tab, allowing people to directly access the content, and customize it based on their preferences.
But now it’s not just about watching shorts. YouTube is rolling out new tools so users can add their own clips, called Cut. Its usage is similar to the Stitch feature on TikTok.

YouTube is rolling out the Cut feature to iOS users, and gradually rolling out to a larger Android base worldwide later this year.
YouTube is a global platform that is watched by billions of people, and Shorts was an instant viewing version offered within the same app. Initially things progressed slowly for this feature but the ban on Tiktok in various countries went into its hands, and in a quick time became a trusted source for millions of people.
It remains to be seen whether shorts become equally popular as more devices arrive, and how people view this as a material choice for those going forward.
