Actress Yuvika Chaudhary was booked by the Haryana Police on Monday (October 18) for using casteist slurs in a video that went viral on social media. The Bigg Boss fame actress was later released on interim bail, reports ANI. According to her lawyer, the actress joined the investigation as per the guidelines of the High Court.

“My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and is now out on interim bail (in the case of alleged objectionable remarks against Scheduled Castes on social media platforms): Ashok Bishnoi, counsel for actress Yuvika Chaudhary,” The news agency quoted the lawyer as saying.

For the unknown, a case was registered against him earlier this year in May. The police had then registered an FIR against the actress under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. In a complaint filed by a Dalit rights activist, he alleged that the actress made some derogatory and objectionable remarks about the Scheduled Caste community in the video, a copy of which she submitted to the police.

In this regard, a complaint was made to Hansi Superintendent of Police Nikita Ahlawat on 26 May. Filmed by her husband Prince Narula, Choudhary’s video which allegedly used casteist slurs went viral on social media on May 25, causing an uproar.

The former “Bigg Boss” contestant soon took to Twitter to apologize, saying that he does not know the meaning of the said word.

“Hello guys I didn’t know the meaning of the word which I used in my previous vlog, I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do this to hurt anyone I apologize to everyone Am I hope you understand your love all (sic)” Choudhary had tweeted.

After a formal investigation by the cyber cell, an FIR was registered against Yuvika Chaudhary at the Hansi city police station.

The station in-charge of Hansi city police station said that the FIR has been registered under the relevant section of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
