According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, over 76.2 lakh taxpayers have used the portal’s online utility for filing returns. On an average, 8,285 notices are being issued for e-action and 5,889 responses were registered on a daily basis this month.

More than 10.60 lakh statutory forms including 7.86 lakh TDS details were submitted besides other such documents. According to the statement of the government, about 66.44 lakh taxpayers have done Aadhaar-PAN linking.

In 2019, software major Infosys was given the contract to develop the new income tax e-filing portal – www.incometax.gov.in, which was launched on June 7, 2021. Taxpayers had reported discrepancies and technical difficulties from day one of the portal. launch.

Last month, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman summoned Infosys CEO Salil Parekh over technical glitches affecting the portal. The Finance Minister has given time till September 15 to resolve all the issues.
