Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh:

One person was killed and three others were injured on Tuesday in an explosion at an illegal firecracker unit on the outskirts of Chinyatapalem in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalle district.

The blast took place when 4 laborers were making firecrackers.

Within minutes of the blast, the roof of the unit collapsed and the villagers who reached the spot informed the police and fire brigade personnel. Locals said the blast again exposed illegal firecracker units.

Police said, “We are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the blast. We suspect that it was the result of improper mixing of chemicals while making the fireworks.”

About two years ago, two persons were killed and five others were injured in an explosion at a similar illegal firecracker unit in Gullipalle village.
