10 percent farm produce will be given as compensation for crop loss: CM Bhagwant Mann

Doing: Punjab’s shining star Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that 10 per cent of the total compensation for consequential losses in the state would now be given to Khetihar Chadha. After the cabinet meeting here under the government’s ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’ programme, Mann said the decision was taken because farm workers also lose their livelihood if success is spoiled due to heavy rain or hailstorm.

Bhopal said the decision is a gift to the working class ahead of Labor Day on May 1, which works hard for growth. This was the first meeting of the state cabinet outside Chandigarh under the ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’ programme. The meeting was held at the Circuit House in Ferry, about 100 km from the state capital.

Mann said that this decision has been taken mostly because from now on the cabinet meeting will be Chandigarh based as this will give the officer and the minister an opportunity to get people’s eye, take suggestions and solve their issues on the spot.
He told a press conference, “Arrangements were made to hold cabinet meetings at various places like Moga, Mansa and Soochnapur. We can organize them in any big village also. Where this will happen, there the representatives of the government will spend a day.
Mann said, “It has been decided that the government will give 10 percent of the area to the farmers for the loss of crops due to unseasonal rain or hailstorm.” 15,000 per acre is given as compensation, then Rs 1,500 will be given to those cultivators who were about to work in interest, but could not do so due to the scarcity being worsened by the rains.”
He said that the state government would soon start the registration so that they could take advantage of the state and central government schemes. “I have asked my officers to go to Labor Chowk, construction sites and rural areas and register them at the sites,” Mann told a press conference.

Noting the other contrarians, he said, “We don’t hang up any files. The first file used to remain in the net for two-three years. We are bringing the state back on the path of development so that Punjab becomes rangla (vibrant) once again.
