10,549 new COVID-19 cases reported in India, 488 deaths in 24 hours

The one-day increase of 10,549 new COVID-19 infections has pushed India’s cumulative total to 3,45,55,431, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday. Currently, the active cases are 1,10,133.

The death toll rose to 4,67,468 with 488 deaths in the last 24 hours. In the same period, 9,868 recoveries have been recorded taking the total number of recoveries to 3,39,77,830.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 49 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 152 consecutive days.

The health ministry also said, active cases comprise 0.32 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.33 per cent.

A total of 63.71 crore tests have been done so far in the country.

The COVID-19 tally in India had crossed the 20 lakh mark on 7 August, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September.

It crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October, 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December.
