Petrol and diesel prices have seen the 10th price hike in 12 days, as the four-and-a-half-month hiatus in rate revision comes to an end on March 22. Recurring price increases have increased political tensions between the parties, and raised concerns about how high the prices could be. Today’s hike saw petrol and diesel prices rise by 80 paise in the national capital, following a similar trend in the past few days, with petrol prices increasing by Rs 7.20 per liter since March 22. Petrol is now priced at ₹102.61 per liter and diesel at ₹93.87 per litre.

Mumbai saw a hike of 86 paise in petrol and 85 paise in diesel, as fuel prices hit an all-time high in the country’s financial capital, with no end to the hike. Petrol prices sit at ₹117.57 per liter and diesel ₹101.79, making Mumbai the only major city where diesel rates exceed ₹100, as petrol rates are now above ₹100 across the country.

Other cities also saw an increase in the ballpark of 80 paise, as prices for both petrol and diesel in Chennai were hiked by 76 paise, taking the cost to ₹108.21 and ₹98.28, respectively. Prices in Kolkata also increased by 83 paise and 80 paise for petrol and diesel, raising them to ₹112.19 and ₹97.02 respectively, as prices in Bangalore are now ₹108.14 for petrol and ₹92.05 for diesel.
