New Delhi: Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the Center’s ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign for door-to-door COVID vaccination has resulted in an increase of 5.9 per cent in the first dose coverage and 11.7 per cent increase in the coverage of the second dose till November 30. Launched on November 3, the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign aims to create door-to-door awareness, mobilization and immunization of all eligible beneficiaries in all states and union territories.

A health ministry statement said that it was highlighted that although the campaign has picked up the pace of vaccination, around 12 crore beneficiaries are still due for their second dose.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 125 crore. As per a provisional report, out of this, 79.13 crore (84.3 per cent) beneficiaries have been given the first dose and 45.82 crore (49 per cent) have been given the second dose.

“The states were advised to prepare a targeted plan to saturate all eligible beneficiaries with the first dose, with respect to the doses given in August and September, so as to rapidly increase the pace of vaccination after the second dose,” the statement said.
