11 killed, 38 injured in bus fire in Maharashtra’s Nashiko

Nashik fire: The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment

Nashik:

At least 11 people were killed and 38 injured when a bus caught fire in Maharashtra’s Nashik this morning.

The bus caught fire after it collided with a trailer truck carrying diesel on Aurangabad Road in Nashik, he said.

Nashik Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Tambe said, “Most of the dead were passengers of the bus – a sleeper coach. The injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.”

He said a case has been registered and investigation is on to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

The video showed a large ball of fire engulfing the bus as firefighters tried to douse the blaze.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the accident.

Minister of State Dada Bhuse said that the government will bear the cost of treatment of the injured.
