A 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly sexually assaulted in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city, gave birth to a girl child and killed the newborn after watching a YouTube video. The police gave this information on Sunday. A police official said that the girl was sexually assaulted by a person whom she had come to know through social media. “She hid from her mother the fact that she was pregnant and that she had some health problems,” officials said.

The girl, a resident of Ambajhari area, came up with the idea of ​​giving birth certificate at home to maintain privacy and asked for a YouTube video. “On March 2, she gave birth to a girl child in her house and immediately strangled the newborn to death. When her mother returned home, she asked the girl about the state of her health. “The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother, after which she was taken to the hospital. The body of the newborn has been sent for postmortem,” he said.

A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, he said. The officer said murder charges would be framed after getting the postmortem report.
