2 groups attacked each other with rods, batons in Navi Mumbai, 1 killed

Thane:

A 30-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Navi Mumbai, police said on Sunday.

He told that the incident took place in Ghansoli at around 7.30 pm on Saturday evening.

“Members of both the groups attacked each other with sticks, iron rods and other weapons over old enmity,” said Ajay Bhosale, senior inspector of Koparkhairane police station.

“One person, identified as Nazir Shaikh, was killed and two each from both the sides were injured. They were admitted to the hospital. Both the groups filed complaints against each other, on the basis of which the police booked their Cases were registered against him for rioting, murder, attempt to murder and others,” he said.

Police have arrested one person each from both the groups, Mr. Bhosale said, adding that the investigation into the matter is on.
