2021 Ducati Monster likely to launch in India this month

Ducati India Recently released a short teaser video of the 2021 Ducati Monster, which is likely to be launched in India this month. Now, the company has started taking bookings for the new monster as well. Completely updated for 2021, the new Monster is a brand new model and gets a fresh new design with updated features and a new engine as well. The motorcycle has now become faster and leaner and meaner. The perforated fuel tank and new LED headlight and the overall look of the bike resembles the naked motorcycle of MV Agusta. Look at the motorcycle in profile and you notice that the new Monster removes the exposed trellis frame.

The 2021 Ducati Monster is powered by a 937 cc L-twin Testastretta engine that is liquid-cooled. The engine is also seen on other Ducati models such as the Hypermotard and the 2021 SuperSport. On the Monster, it is tuned to produce 110 bhp at 9,250 rpm along with 93 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and Ducati offers a bi-directional quick-shifter as standard. Power is up by 2 bhp over the Monster 821 while the torque output increases by 6 Nm.

The Monster gets a brand new aluminum frame inspired by the Panigale V4. The bike is lighter than before with a dry weight of 166 kg, which is 18 kg less than before. The rear sub-frame is made of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP), which makes it lighter and stronger than before. The motorcycle gets 43 mm upside down forks with 130 mm travel and an adjustable monoshock at the rear with 140 mm travel. The bike also gets new 17-inch alloys which are lighter than before. They are shod in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubber, 120/70 up front and 180/55 at the rear. Up front, it gets twin Brembo M4.32 4-piston monoblock calipers that hold two 320 mm discs. At the rear of the bike is a single 245 mm disc gripped by Brembo calipers. Like the front brake, it has sintered brake pads.

The new Monster gets ride-by-wire with ABS, cornering ABS, power launch, traction control and wheelie control and three riding modes which are Sport, Touring and Urban. All the modes allow the rider to adjust the other electronics as per his requirement. The new Ducati Monster also gets a new 4.3-inch full color TFT instrument console with Panigale V4-inspired graphics. The price of the new monster is likely to be between Rs 11 lakh-12 lakh. Globally, the bike gets two variants, Monster and Monster Plus. The latter gets a flyscreen above the headlight and a cover for the rear seat. Once launched, it will go up against the Triumph Street Triple R and Kawasaki Z900.
