Maruti’s second-generation compact SUV will go on sale with a new 1.5-litre DualJet petrol engine, a new automatic gearbox and a host of new features.

Aruthi Suzuki is all set to launch the new Brezza subcompact SUV in India today. Bookings for the SUV are currently open with a booking amount of Rs 11,000. Ahead of the launch, Maruti has revealed new details for its upcoming models, including engine and gearbox details along with confirming some of its new features. The carmaker has also confirmed that the new-gen SUV will be known only as Brezza, with the Vitara prefix now dropped. While the design of the car is still a secret, pictures of this model have surfaced online giving a clear look at the SUV styling. The new Brezza retains the boxy and upright proportions of the outgoing Vitara Brezza, though the entire body shell is new. Up front, there are new headlamps with J-shaped LED DRLs, a bigger grille and a chunkier front bumper that makes major use of black cladding and a faux skid plate element.

On the downside, the model seems to lack a defined shoulder line that runs the length of the car near the door handles while the glass house is also newer and longer than the older model. At the rear, new slim tail-lamps and a chunky rear bumper complete the look.

The cabin will also be all new along with the dashboard, now getting a more layered design than the outgoing model. The touchscreen is a free-standing unit that sits above the center console while bits like climate control and steering are shared with the new Baleno. Maruti has confirmed some of the technology that will be available including a heads-up display, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with connected tech, a 360-degree camera and a sunroof.
