2022 UP elections: Wants Yogi Adityanath to contest from Mathura, MP Harnath Singh writes to Nadda

BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav has demanded to field Yogi from Mathura, amid the demand for the candidature of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the upcoming assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh. The push comes as part of the party’s long-term commitment and slogan of ‘Yeh toh abhi jhanki hai, mathura, kaashi baaki hai’.

Harnath Singh Yadav has written to party chief JP Nadda asking him to consider his request to field Yogi Adityanath from Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

Explaining the need to write a letter to Nadda, Yadav told News18, “Nothing happens unless God wants it. Since last night, I had a feeling that Lord Krishna wants me to be the medium of request to contest from the birthplace of Yogi. I think, I have just expressed the wish of the people of Brij.”

In his letter to the BJP President, the BJP MP said, “While the people of every constituency want Yogi ji to contest from his seat, the people of Brijkshetra want him to contest from Mathura and I have been directed by Lord Krishna himself. being done. wrote to you I would request you to think of allowing Yogi ji to contest from Mathura.

The move is being seen as a game changer as Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to contest from Varanasi in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, which ensured gains for the BJP across eastern UP.

Yogi Adityanath had said on January 1 that the party would decide from which seat he would contest. Since then, speculations are rife that the CM may contest from one of the three seats in Ayodhya, Mathura or Gorakhpur, thus giving a tough fight to opponents Akhilesh Yadav, Priyanka Gandhi and Mayawati.
